IPSE Asks: Is Blogger Abdul Hakim Shabazz A Double Agent?

OBSERVATION:  If it wasn't for the fact that Abdul Hakim Shabazz (INBR)  is a sitting member of the Public Safety Advisory Board we would simple write Gary's Welsh's (ADIN) recent post off as part of an ongoing skirmish between  friends-now-rival bloggers.  However in light of what is happening with the issue of public safety in our city we think Gary raises a legitimate concern.

You may think that this is an unfair characterization of everyone's favorite  radio personality/attorney/stand up comedian.  We don't think so...The self described "arm-dealer" is proud of his reputation and according to the emails we receive is well known for his double dealing in information given to him in confidence.  So this raises the question: Is it safe for anonymous readers to comment on his blog considering that he is pretty open about his affection for all-things Ballard?

We believe the Ballard administration would find it quite useful to be able to track and identify disgruntled employees whose public comments make life miserable for their political agenda.  So is he or isn't he?

I guess only Abdul, Tom John and Robert Vane know for sure.

  1. Abdul hasn't answered for his identity as Joe Friday.

There are also rumors that Hallowell Consulting's (Jen Hallowell's one-woman shop) 10K per month includes a sub-contract to Abdul. Totally legal under Indiana Campaign Finance Law, but would be interesting to know.

  2. If there is a check out there for me, I haven't seen it. If any of you do, please contact me. My anniversary is coming up next week and I want to get my wife a cool gift.

  3. As Gary says in his post, the basic information gathered when visiting web sites isn't very much. Your IP (kind of), web browser, operating system, your ISP, and a few other nifty things.

90% of the time it's not enough to identify WHO is reading your blog unless you're looking for someone specifically.

Now, if someone posts a comment or reads a blog while at work, or on an academic campus, that might be able to narrow down identities a bit easier.

People can take precautions so that this basic information isn't made available through sites as well. I have a number of readers on my blog who don't leave any trace of being there as far as basic info goes.

  4. Abdul does monitor IP addresses as a matter of course. And while Abdul's blog and even radio show can be useful, no one should trust that he woud keep their IP addy private information.

Like he said himself, he's an arms dealer. Gary's words of caution should definitely be heeded in regard to Abdul.

  5. You're ok as long as you don't let him near your computer to install spyware. Just ask Beth White. Abdul is a bottom-feeding leech. He needs constant validation and that's why he can't find a full-time job.

  6. Hey Abdul, I gotta' idea for ya. How about stapling your lips shut. You wife gets a slimmer husband, your elastic wasteband and our ears get a little relief. The perfect gift!

  9. What elected offical would hang around this type of guy? If you look at the company he keeps Brizzi, Tom John it tells a lot about his character. A carpetbagging, elitist-wannabe opportunist with little talent who prefers one-liners for serious policy discussions. He has to buy his friends by giving them airtime in echange for gossip. It is no surprise that he isn't respected in the African-American community and wether you agree with Amos Brown or not on issues, his love of the community is genuine. He's a modern day minstrel performing on the radio for the white elite. And lets be clear his radio rating tell you what his true value is...3rd form the bottom.

  10. I bet Brizzi wishes he had kept his piehole closed around this guy. Like you said HFFT he's an arms dealer and he has no problem turning on his drinking buddies if the price is right. And this was after Brizzi saved his ass from the police raid on his IndyUndercover crap. So much for loyalty.

  11. I remember his trying the same bs with Paul Ogden when Paul called him out on something. They guy acts like a teenage girl when you disagree with him or catch him in a lie. That's why no one will hire him fulltime his routine is tiresome.

  12. Politically Gary Welsh and I are probably polar opposites however at least I feel I can trust him and maybe even share a drink while watching a game. I can't honestly say that about Abdul. The sleeze factor is too much for me to deal with.
